Four Jens Risom “Playboy” C140 chairs in solid black walnut. Classic configuration; upholstered in orange hopsack fabric with recently re-caned backs. A handsome design with tapered legs and curved arms. Excellent vintage condition for all four chairs. Makers label present under two of the four chairs. A July 1961 Playboy article on influential Mid-Century furniture designers featured Jens Risom standing next to the C140 the chair was coined "the Playboy" chair. Other designers in the story included Charles Eames, George Nelson, Eero Saarinen, Edward Wormley and Harry Bertoia.
